RS Cesena Residence

In the beating heart of Cesena’s historic center, overlooking Piazza del Popolo, rises a vertically developed building that now hosts an elegant and refined private residence, the result of a deep renovation respectful of the original architectural context. Distributed over four above-ground levels and two underground levels, the building is configured as a complex organism, whose residential conversion required careful structural and material analysis, aimed at enhancing existing elements and creating fluid and luminous living spaces.
The project started with a stratigraphic and diagnostic analysis of the construction materials, essential to operate with awareness and precision on the existing heritage. Horizontal and vertical structures underwent targeted consolidation, ensuring structural safety without compromising their formal authenticity.
A key element of the internal composition is the staircase, conceived not only as a functional distribution tool but as a spatial and visual axis that harmoniously connects all levels of the residence, culminating in the suggestive panoramic turret, converted into a small reading room with a privileged view of the Rocca Malatestiana: a contemplative space that also becomes a symbol of the entire intervention.
The choice of finishes followed a sober yet refined register: bleached wooden floors and exposed brick arches dialogue with contemporary design furnishings, in a measured contrast between past and present. Neutral tones and material textures give the environment a sense of warmth and intimacy, emphasizing the natural light generously filtering through the openings onto Piazza del Popolo.
This intervention stands as a virtuous example of residential regeneration in the historic urban context, capable of preserving the original character of the building while reinterpreting it with current design languages. A sophisticated home, where verticality becomes an opportunity for discovery, and each level tells a fragment of architectural and personal history.
